Barbara was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California, where she was blessed with a childhood filled with beauty and nature and the arts.

Later she moved to Sonoma County where she received a B.A. in Theater, married, and raised three children. Although she had encountered Anthroposophy earlier, Waldorf Education came to the fore with the birth of her children. Soon she was taking classes, working as a kindergarten assistant, and doing her teacher training at the Rudolf Steiner College.

She completed her Masters in Education at Touro University with a thesis on the Arts in Waldorf Education; is a certified Nurturing Arts practitioner; and has completed artistic and therapeutic singing trainings through the School for Uncovering the Voice, which she continues to teach to adults and educators. Her Waldorf teaching career includes directing a preschool in her own home program, vocal and recorder instruction, and grades class teaching. She is also a certified Simplicity Parenting Family Life Coach based on the work of Kim John Payne.

She has been at the Waldorf School of Santa Barbara since 2013 where she has taught in the parent-toddler program, the nursery, preschool, and kindergarten.
